“The Five Obstructions” was an interesting experiment on Jorgen Leth’s experience in both being a filmmaker and life experiences.
A strain can be seen in Jorgen when he is faced with problems he would never think of (the cartoon), or into situations that literally make him sick to his stomach (The meal in Bombay)
Watching Jorgen work, and Lars’ reactions when time and time again Jorgen managed to overcome each one of Lars’ challenges. The impromptu solutions to some of the problems, like the transparent screen to obfuscate the members of the public watching “”The Perfect Man” eat a classy meal in the middle of a run down, poor neighbourhood was frightening to watch.

I feel that the essence of my influences comes from the musical world. My taste ranges from black metal to jazz, post-rock to experimental electronica. Music can present a unique vision, the notes played can a lot of time tell more than words.
There are only a small amount of bands who I would consider true "artists". Ulver would be one of them, coming up during the black metal waves in Norway - creating a few of the most influential albums in the genre. After that moving their sound to something completely different. Their 4th album moved completely away from metal and retold “William Blake’s Marriage of Heaven and Hell” With one of their more experimental albums to date. 7 albums later are still creating unique music. Each album is completely different to the previous, but still manages to keep the quality of the previous album.
When it comes to the visual side of things, directors like Park Chan-wook, with the Vengeance trilogy and Tarkovsky with his adaptation of the novel "Roadside Picnic" with his movie “Stalker” create what I consider some of my favourite movies.
Classic Noir films like The Maltese Falcon and Sunset Blvd. are considered classics for a reason…
More recently Children of Men impressed me with a wonderful story and fantastic use of long takes.
Orwell’s vision of the future is something I am extremely interested in, as well as his re-telling of history. With “Animal Farm” mimicking the Russian Revolution.
I have recently started to read Terry Pratchett’s “Discworld” series. Fantastic meets an eccentric world for the story to take place. A world perched upon four elephants standing on a giant tortoise flying through space.
Arrested Development has been the only TV series that has REALLY impressed me.
Other influences comes in from mythology originating from different civilisations, Norse being the major one.
When it comes to the web, the way Nicholas Gurewitch presents his brand of humour in PBF comics (http://pbfcomics.com) is something I would like to strive to achieve.
